Senate Local Government Committee Will Study Property Tax Collection Reform

HARRISBURG – The Senate Local Government Committee will study legislation that would reform and modernize the way that property taxes are collected during a public hearing on Tuesday, June 19, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Room 8E-A of the state Capitol Building, according to Acting Committee Chair Senator Scott Martin (R-13).

The hearing will focus on Senate Bill 1099, legislation introduced by Senator Martin that would give counties, municipalities and school districts more flexibility to utilize reliable, efficient alternatives for property tax collection.

Testifiers will include municipal tax collectors, representatives of county and local governments, and school business officers.
